I doubt THAT is driving their business model.Įpson, in its infinite wisdom and boundless desire to give their customers maximum value for their investment, software CRIPPLED the 3880 from printing longer than 38", presumably to increase sales of a planned succssor printer. ![]() ![]() Damn Epson.Īs of right now, the Printfab beta program has been and will be available for almost a year, for FREE and has pretty extensive color controls. Colormunki just made it SO much easier.for eveything up to 38". I can live with the old brute force color tweaking if necessary. Luckily I don't have that many panos to print. There are, between PS and PF (CM is relativley simple) so many switches and alternative pathways.not sure exactly what is happening.when. So far that has not worked but I cannot be sure I am not double profiling. Yes, I did go to the Profile section and tried inserting the initial Colormunki generated profile into a NEW PROFILE to make a new, paper-specific profile in PF. The Printfab program solves this long pano problem for, so far, free. I doubt THAT is driving their business model.Įpson, in its infinite wisdom and boundless desire to give their customers maximum value for their investment, software CRIPPLED the 3880 from printing longer than 38", presumably to increase sales of a planned succssor printer. I can include a written question with my test print.Īs of right now, the Printfab beta program has been and will be available for almost a year, for FREE and has pretty extensive color controls. I still have not heard from Printfab but since I prepaid for a profile, before buying CM, I mght as well send in the test print and let them profile it and try that. If I ever get it straightened out, I'll let you know. That begs the question of how I might choose a different profile for a different paper, but since I only print on the 3880 with one paper.I don't care. If I go directly to Print, the issue of profile never comes up but supposedly CM has associated that CM profile wih that printing. If I use Print with Preview.I get the option of choosing the CM or other profile. ![]() That does not work, although there is the possibility that I might be double-profiling. Yes, it occured to me in spite of the fact that Printfab has it's own extensive color management controls that I might succeed at just disabling (or ignoring) those and using the pre-established CM profile printing through the regular driver. If I have no option should I pursue CMYK in this case? I am asking Printfab how/why is CMYK automatically appearing in Colomunki.awaiting an answer.ġ) Anyone using Printfab AND Colormunki and having this problem?Ģ) Is CMYK printing potentally equally viable for me as RGB (only) when I need to use Printfab to break the 3880 length barrier. I have always printed RGB and have 0 exprience with CMYK. If I print setting the Printfab driver to CMYK(proof) I get ballpark but still off colors. The result.printing in Adobe RGB.are psychedelic. All of the profiles and switches I can find are set to RGB and Adobe. When I go to profile the Printfab-driver-3880 wth Colormunki.without any RGB/CMYK questioning.Colormunki prints out CMYK designated test patterns. The Printfab driver associates itself with the 3880 as a separate 3880(Printfab) printer. When I start CM and run the profiles I get RGB test prints to scan.as I expect.īUT.I aso have the (free) Beta (temporary) version of Printfab.with which I have succssfully printed a 5 foot pan, breaking the 38" 3880 barrier. After years of using Spyder but having to rely on uncontrolled commercial scanning.and getting inconsistent, frustrating results.I bought Colormunki and have profiled both the 3880 wth my RR paper and my old 3000 with it's own dye paper.with excllent results.
